Germany’s transportation ministry is expected to introduce legislation that would require recording devices in autonomous vehicles, according to The Motor Report. The so-called “black box” recorders — similar to the recording technology found in airplanes — would record instances when the car is in autonomous operation and when it has requested the driver take over. The move comes after a driver in California was killed in his Tesla Model S. In this case, the driver was allegedly in autopilot mode and crashed into a semitrailer while watching a movie.
