The town of Paradise has adopted changes based on recommendations made by Newfoundland and Labrador Privacy Commissioner Donovan Molloy, CBC News reports. Paradise will revise its policies on the retention of election records following an incident where the town council destroyed records that were not covered by the Municipal Elections Act. "While there is insufficient evidence to find that the town destroyed these records with the intent to evade the access request, the destruction was careless at best," Molloy wrote in a report. The town will also make changes to its capacity to hold surveillance recordings after a request to view footage was shot down, and afterward, the discovery the footage was erased before the request was made.
