A Tory party website may be in violation of privacy laws, the Guardian reports. The “Back Brexit” site asks users to submit their names, email addresses and postcodes, which then may be used to create a profile for targeted advertising. 11KBW Information Law Leading Specialist Robin Hopkins wrote in a legal opinion the site fails to be properly transparent about how data is used, and it does not give users enough choices on the matter. “At least as regards the use of data for ‘online advertisements,’ the individual does not seem to have been adequately informed,” the legal opinion states.
