Using IBM’s artificial intelligence platform, Norton Rose Fulbright has created the Parker chatbox to help businesses decide if they need to report a data breach under Australia’s new breach notification laws, which take effect next Feb. 22, iTnews reports. The tool will respond to questions and take an organization through necessary steps, depending on the type of breach. If faced with a unanswerable question, the tool will provide instructions for requesting a return call from a privacy lawyer. When the breach notification law goes into effect next year, organizations will need to inform the Australian Information Commissioner and customers “as soon as practicable.”
