The window is closing for the U.S. Congress to pass a consumer privacy bill, Politico reports. Besides a lack of bipartisanship related to the creation of privacy legislation, Congress' August recess is fast-approaching, and other issues, including budgets and national debt, are expected to take precedent when lawmakers reconvene. "We’ve been talking for what, two years about a privacy bill? Haven’t seen one, don’t know if we’ll ever see one," Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., said at a hearing last week. "We need a microwave, not a Crock-Pot here." Kennedy went as far as saying the lack of movement on a bill was "embarrassing" and "disgraceful."
