Starting July 29, ownership of TikTok users’ data in Europe will be moved from the company’s U.S. entity to local subsidiaries, CityAM reports. Data of users in the European Economic Area and Switzerland will be managed and safeguarded by TikTok Ireland, while TikTok UK will do the same for Britons. The change is “part of our ongoing work to develop local teams,” Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs Madeline Moncrieff, CIPP/E, and Head of Trust and Safety Cormac Keenan wrote in a blog post.
