Following the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica revelations, Privacy Commissioner of Canada Daniel Therrien said his office will get in touch with the social media company to see the ways Canadian citizens may have been affected, Global News reports. Therrien said using Facebook data for political purposes raises “serious privacy concerns,” and discussing the breach with the tech company can help his office determine any possible next steps. University of Toronto Assistant Professor Alex Hanna said users have little control over their data but advises anyone on the platform to avoid adding apps to their profiles, while adding a call for legislative options.
