  • European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders told members of the European Parliament that airlines could use COVID-19 travel certificates to facilitate safe travel this summer, Euractiv reports. Reynders said the certificates, which would not be considered vaccine passports, would contain information on vaccinations, tests or recovery and would remain effective until the World Health Organization deems the pandemic is over.
  • Data protection authorities in Denmark and Switzerland offered opinions on potential domestic and EU vaccine certificate schemes. The Danish DPA addressed concerns over the schemes' potential use of Social Security numbers, while the Swiss DPA discussed a concerted effort to ensure the programs align with principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
