  • Speaking to 2,000 Filipino privacy professionals and advocates during the National Data Privacy Conference, National Privacy Commissioner Raymund Enriquez Liboro called for better defenses of sensitive personal data during the pandemic, The Manila Times reports.
  • In Canada, CBC News reports the Toronto City Council is asking health officials to collect province-wide data on COVID-19 cases broken down by race, occupation and socioeconomic factors and to share disaggregated data.
  • Advocates and public health workers in Ontario are calling for a stop to emergency orders granting first responders access to personal health details of residents who test positive for COVID-19, saying it is an “unjustified, unprecedented violation of privacy rights,” National Post reports.
