According to Hunton Andrews Kurth's Privacy & Information Security Law Blog, the High Court of Justice considered the first U.K. case involving the application of the territorial scope of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The claimant sought to bring claims against U.S.-based Forensic News and some of its staff, among other companies, for using private information in violation of the GDPR. The plaintiff claimed violations of Articles 3(1), 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b), but the court denied permission to pursue the case.
