The AFCDP, the French association of data protection correspondents, has released a paper in which 10 leaders of French companies talk about their decision to appoint a data protection officer, what the role looks like in their organization, and why they feel it’s important. The paper offers insight into the function of the DPO in France, where French data protection authority, the CNIL, has established the “registered data protection officer,” and may help guide organizations looking to fulfill the upcoming DPO requirement under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The paper offers insights from representatives of the finance, nonprofit and health care industries as well as education and government, among others.
