India’s Department of Telecommunications said there is no violation of privacy in collecting call records from carriers, The Economic Times reports. The DoT said the data is anonymous and does not contain personal details, track phone numbers or call content, and will be used to study connectivity and network quality. Telecommunications companies initially raised privacy concerns but cooperated after agreeing the data sharing did not violate users’ privacy.
