A pair of information technology companies received the first enforcement actions for violations of China’s Cybersecurity Law, Hunton & Williams Privacy & Information Security Law Blog reports. Chongqing’s municipal Public Security Bureau’s cybersecurity team found a technology development company had failed to retain users’ web logins when providing internet data center services. The company has 15 days to correct the problem before a follow-up inspection takes place. The other enforcement action occurred when Shantou’s municipal Public Security Bureau’s cybersecurity team ordered an information technology company to remedy a violation of the new law. Both companies received warnings for the violations, as no fines or criminal penalties were distributed.
