Anu Talus has been appointed Finland’s new data protection commissioner, the Office of the Data Protection Officer announced. Talus will begin the role Nov. 1, when current Data Protection Commissioner Reijo Aarnio retires. Talus, who has served as assistant data protection officer since August 2019, will serve a term of five years. Data protection is a key part of today’s digital world, Talus said, adding “international cooperation” will be of growing importance to data protection commissioners.
