UK-based telecom TalkTalk’s website was breached, potentially compromising customers’ credit card details, Bloomberg Business reports. The company was allegedly contacted by an adversary demanding a ransom, and after media reports about the event, shares for the company “fell the most in more than two years,” the report states. Names, birth dates, email addresses, phone numbers and bank account details may have also been compromised in the sustained cyberattack. “We have been working around the clock with the police and cybersecurity experts to understand what happened, and what data was taken,” the company said. The Office of the Information Commissioner is also investigating the incident.
