Following the confirmation and swearing in of Alvaro Bedoya, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission finally has a full commissioner bench under FTC Chair Lina Khan. The commissioners wasted no time getting to work on privacy matters, voting unanimously to adopt a policy statement regarding Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act enforcement against education technology companies. While the vote is noteworthy, comments made prior to the vote during the FTC’s public session from the public and the commissioners brought to light division regarding the commission’s approach.
