The Swiss data protection authority, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commission, has announced it entered into the Council of Europe's "Convention 223," which focuses on the protection of individuals with regard to automatic processing of personal data. Convention 223 is an amending treaty that seeks to modernize the provisions of the previous treaty for data processing, "Convention 108." According to the DPA, "The amending protocol strengthens the rights of data subjects, especially when they want to know if their data is being processed and if an individual decision is automated."
