With a new European Parliament in place and new commission appointed, the EU Council of Ministers met once again to discuss the proposed General Data Protection Regulation and the highly debated right to be forgotten. Christian Wiese Svanberg of Plesner Law Firm offers an overview of the discussions in this Privacy Tracker post, noting “the reform now appears unstoppable, and fundamental changes to the scope and legal form of the proposal are becoming increasingly unlikely.” One provision that does not seem to have widespread agreement, however, is the requirement for organizations to appoint data protection officers.
