A new Pew Research Center survey reveals U.S. adults struggle to understand privacy and cybersecurity issues. Only 20% of the 4,272 respondents surveyed answered seven or more questions correctly, while just 2% got all 10 questions correct. The majority of respondents correctly answered questions on phishing scams, cookies and social media advertising, but half were unsure of what private browsing does, and only 28% were able to identify an example of two-factor authentication, which the center said is “one of the most important ways experts say people can protect their personal information on sensitive accounts.” Meanwhile, a DuckDuckGo survey found 79% of 1,114 respondents adjusted privacy settings in their social media accounts within the last year.
