Results of a recent Reuters Corporate Survey found that Japanese firms continue to struggle with the new EU General Data Protection Regulation, with only about 25 percent of businesses reporting they have made progress on meeting some of the less onerous requirements of the GDPR, Reuters reports. While 539 mid- and large-sized companies were included in the survey, only 215 responded to GDPR-related questions. Speaking in early June, a member of the European Union delegation to Japan said that despite “a perceptible interest across the business community about the GDPR,” the delegation received at most 10 questions from Japanese businesses.
