A survey conducted by Bitkom examined German companies’ progress and opinion on the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Of the more than 500 German companies polled, 24 percent claims to have fully implemented the GDPR, with 40 percent having mostly done so and 30 percent partially applying the new rules. Ninety-six percent of respondents want corrections to the legislation, and six out of 10 want the rules to be simplified. The number of companies that claim the GDPR has complicated their business processes has risen over the past year, with 63 percent of businesses voicing their concern compared to 42 percent in September 2017.
