Computer Weekly reports on recent findings that show 71 percent of all U.K. businesses in the trade sector do not have an established process or protocol for disposing of redundant IT equipment. Proband surveyed more than 1,000 trade workers to find that 44 percent of trade sector businesses do not wipe data from IT equipment before disposal, and 47 responded they do not know who to approach within their company to handle such a request. “Given these findings, it is clear that more needs to be done to ensure that all businesses have a disposal procedure in place to avoid inadvertently leaking sensitive data,” Proband Marketing Director Matt Royle said.
