A survey commissioned by the Centre for Digital Rights found only 9% of Canadian citizens knew political parties are not covered under the country’s privacy laws, The Globe and Mail reports. Of the 1,471 Canadian voters polled, 85% said they did not know about the exemption, and 7% said they were not sure. After they were told about the current setup, 65% said they strongly agreed political parties should be covered by the privacy laws other organizations follow in Canada, with another 23% who said they somewhat agree.
