The Supreme Court of Canada voted to uphold the Genetic Non-Discrimination Act, CBC News reports. The court voted 5–4 in favor of the law, which prevents third parties from demanding genetic information from individuals. The Court of Appeal of Quebec had previously deemed the act to be unconstitutional, ruling it did not fit within the framework of criminal law, resulting in an appeal to the Supreme Court by the Canadian Coalition for Genetic Fairness.
