Consumer rights groups have initiated a civil lawsuit claiming a subway facial recognition system in São Paulo, Brazil, will not sufficiently protect user privacy, ZDNet reports. The technology will scan faces of 4 million passengers daily, and the groups said its impact is unknown. A study on database security has not been conducted, and data protection policies, specifically regarding children and teenagers, have not been developed, they said, calling the system “inefficient and dangerous.”
