A survey conducted by HarrisX found U.S. citizens do not trust tech companies to protect their information, Axios reports. Of the respondents polled within 24 hours of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's testimony on Capitol Hill, 83 percent said tougher regulations and penalties are needed for privacy breaches, while 67 percent said they support privacy legislation, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation. However, 38 percent believes the federal government is not capable of regulating large tech companies. When asked about specific tech companies, 44 percent said they do not believe Facebook cares about privacy, with Twitter having the next highest number at 33 percent.
