A study conducted by Gartner found only 4 in 10 privacy executives feel confident in their organizations’ ability to keep up with new regulations. Privacy executives listed “adapting to a volatile regulatory environment,” “establishing a privacy strategy to support digital transformation” and “implementing an effective third-party risk management program” as three of their top priorities for 2019. “Strategic and regulatory flexibility will be critical to the success of privacy functions this year,” Gartner Managing Vice President Brian Lee said. “Organizations still feeling the full force of complying with Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation are now being asked to adapt to additional regulatory requirements, which can impact both short- and long-term strategy.”
