A study released by Comparitech found California is the best state for online privacy. Comparitech rated each state based on 20 criteria. Should a state meet each of those criteria, it would receive a score of 100%. California scored a 75% rating based on Comparitech’s criterion, with its high score driven by the California Consumer Privacy Act. Delaware and Utah had the next two highest scores at 55% and 45% respectively. On the other side of the scale, Wyoming, Mississippi, Idaho, Pennsylvania and Iowa had the lowest scores recorded for the study.
