A new report from Pew Research Center revealed a majority of the 4,272 American respondents are concerned about their data privacy. More than 80% of respondents said they were concerned with the lack of control over the data being collected by both companies and the U.S. government. The same percentage of respondents found more risks than benefits with data collection. More than 60% believed they are being tracked by companies or the government on a daily basis. There is concern over data use, as well, with 79% of respondents questioning data use by companies, while 64% are skeptical of government data practices.
