The Reno Gazette Journal reports 114,000 students in the Washoe County School District in Nevada may have been impacted by a data breach. The breach affected students enrolled in the school district between 2001 and 2016 and was linked to an older version of a Pearson Clinical Assessment program that measures student progress throughout the school year. Student names and birthdates were affected, along with staff names and email addresses. “Because the information in question was generated so long ago, many of these students are no longer in our schools. In addition, the type of information is so limited, it is difficult to identify any of the students impacted," WCSD Information Security Officer Alan Cunningham said.
