TrustArc General Counsel and Chief Data Governance Officer Hilary Wandall, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, FIP, and her company have been keeping an eye on certification under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. When it was clear certification would not be ready for May 25, TrustArc looked to address their clients’ requests for a way to prove their GDPR-compliance efforts. To fill the certification gap, TrustArc released its GDPR Validation Solution, a tool where companies can enter what they have done to comply with the rules, and privacy professionals determine whether their work is worthy of a letter they can show to their clients. IAPP Associate Editor Ryan Chiavetta, CIPP/US, spoke with Wandall to discuss the creation of the solution.
