NBC News aired an exclusive, “wide-ranging and revealing interview” with National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden Wednesday in which he said, “I don’t think there’s ever been any question that I’d like to go home.” Snowden defended his actions, saying the U.S. surveillance programs are violating the Constitution. “Had that not happened, had the government not gone too far and overreached, we wouldn’t be in a situation where whistleblowers were necessary,” said Snowden. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry expressed harsh words for Snowden, calling him a “coward” and “traitor.” Kerry added, “What he’s done is expose for terrorists a lot of mechanisms which now affect operational security of those terrorists and make it harder for the United States to break up plots, harder to protect our nation.” The U.S. public, judging by Twitter, now disagrees with Kerry.
