After smartphone users in India discovered a toll-free number for the Unique Identification Authority of India in their contact lists, Google provided a statement in the Economic Times saying that it had included the number as part of a SetUp wizard of the Android release given to OEMs for use in India, The Verge reports. A spokesperson for Google said, “We are sorry for any concern that this might have caused, and would like to assure everyone that this is not a situation of an unauthorized access of their Android devices.”
