Startup Oak Labs' retail smart mirror hopes to cash in on research that has found consumers who use fitting rooms are nearly seven times more likely to buy something, Bloomberg Businessweek reports. The dressing room mirror's abilities include allowing shoppers to see congruent items, signaling assistance needs to employees, and ordering products not in stock. The mirror aims not to replace retail workers but to make their jobs easier, said Oak Labs CEO Healey Cypher. Currently, stores like Rebecca Minkoff and Ralph Lauren are testing the mirrors, with data indicating that "people buy more while spending less time in the dressing room," the report states. “There is that shopper who wants a private, anonymous experience of self-service,” said Rebecca Minkoff CEO Uri Minkoff. “That’s the e-commerce experience. Why not carry that into the store?"
