Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi endorsed the Personal Data Protection Law July 17, Egypt Today reports. The law was passed by Parliament in February. An amendment to the law establishes the creation of a "personal data protection centre" and requires data controllers to notify the center of data breaches within 72 hours. The article on cross-border protection was amended to prohibit transfers "collected or prepared for processing to a foreign country" without permission from the personal data protection center.
