The February edition of the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore's newsletter, "DPO Connect," covers happenings in the Asia-Pacific region, the world and the country, such as the release of the PDPC's annual report. Additionally, it includes a Q&A section, addressing readers' inquires. Of interest this month is Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act and whether it has a provision for protecting data that has been made publicly available and if a third-party data processor is obligated to obtain consent from those whose information they're accessing, the newsletter states. Additionally, the PDPC reports that 18 of the 24 enforcement actions made by the commission were either due to IT inadequacies or failure to initially emphasize the importance of information security.
