Northwest Territories Information and Privacy Commissioner Andrew Fox said his office was notified of multiple “significant breaches of privacy” involving the Territories’ COVID-19 Secretariat’s use of email, Cabin Radio reports. A spokesperson for the COVID-19 Secretariat said there have been 39 privacy breaches attributed to the office since its creation in September 2020. Some of the breaches include emailing everyone isolating in Yellowknife last year without blind-copying their names and emails on multiple occasions. The secretariat said the office adopted new software and protocols to avoid future breaches.
