In a piece for The Brookings Institution, Tisch Distinguished Visiting Fellow Cameron Kerry wrote on U.S. President Joe Biden's 2023 State of the Union Address and the opportunity to spotlight potential comprehensive federal privacy legislation. Kerry said raising potential legislation before members of U.S. Congress would be a "small, logical, and concrete step" to restart dialogue on a federal proposal, specifically the proposed American Data Privacy and Protection Act. It wouldn't be Biden's first privacy mention in the address after he called for children's privacy updates in his 2022 address.
