Privacy advocates expressed concerns over the installation of facial recognition technology in Belgrade by the Serbian Ministry of Interior, Emerging Europe reports. Serbia's capital has hundreds of Huawei cameras currently in place and plans to add thousands more as a means to improve safety. However, the Serbian Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection wrote in a May report that the use of the cameras lacked a legal basis, and advocates said the camera use is too wide-ranging.
