In a letter to chief executives at Apple, Amazon and Super Micro Computer, Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., asked for staff briefings following a Bloomberg report that claimed Chinese spies were able to infiltrate the U.S. tech supply chain with hardware, Reuters reports. Sen. Thune said such allegations must be taken seriously. In a separate letter, Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., wrote to Super Micro Computer, asking for information related to its investigation into the matter by Oct. 17.
