The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation announced a Dec. 9 hearing to discuss the invalidation of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield and other matters pertaining to trans-Atlantic data flows. The hearing is set to cover policy issues that led to Privacy Shield's demise, the invalidation's effects on U.S. business and an update on the steps to develop a new EU-U.S. transfer mechanism. Federal Trade Commissioner Noah Phillips and Alston & Bird Senior Counsel Peter Swire, CIPP/US, are among the witnesses slated to appear.
