Members of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence have shown some willingness to consider a national notification standard in the wake of the SolarWinds data breach, The Wall Street Journal reports. The committee considered such a law during a hearing on the December 2020 breach with top executives from SolarWinds, Microsoft, FireEye and CrowdStrike. Microsoft President Brad Smith noted his company limited its reporting of the breach because of contractual limits and no legal obligation to do so.
