The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will hold a hearing Sept. 23 titled "Revisiting the Need for Federal Data Privacy Legislation." The hearing will focus on the current state of privacy legislation in the U.S. and look at lessons learned from the implementation of state privacy laws and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, as well as how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected data privacy. Witnesses include former Federal Trade Commissioners Julie Brill, William Kovacic, Jon Leibowitz and Maureen Ohlhausen.
