The Guardian reports biometric systems for certain Australian government services carries security flaws. The voice identification system used to access online self-service accounts with Australia's Centrelink Master Program and Australian Taxation Office can be duped using artificial intelligence-generated voiceprints. The two government financial services voice verified approximately 11 million accounts combined, with voice verification giving access to troves of sensitive personal data. Services Australia spokesperson Hank Jongen said Centrelink's voice access program is a "highly secure authentication method."
