According to a blog post from Goodwin Procter, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission recently closed a public consultation on digital engagement practices by broker-dealers and investment advisers. So-called "dark patterns" were among the topics the SEC sought comments on while it also requested information on the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to "transform user interfaces and the interactions that retail investors have on digital platforms by developing an understanding of the investor’s preferences and adapting the interface and related prompts to appeal to those preferences."
