Between Dec. 22-30, 2022, numerous employment-related Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act class-action lawsuits were filed in Cook County Circuit Court, the Cook County Record reports. The lawsuits generally centered around complaints alleging employers were “improperly requiring workers to scan their fingerprints to verify their identity when punching the time clock to begin and end work shifts, without first securing consent from the workers or providing the workers with notices,” which are BIPA requirements.
