The Guardian reports ride-hailing application Wheely, headquartered in London, notified the U.K. Information Commissioner's Office of orders from the Russian government that may put the company in breach of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. A Russian court halted Wheely's Moscow operations for 90 days after the company refused to breach consumer privacy by handing over personal information to the Moscow Department of Transportation. Wheely has asked the ICO to "urgently consider" the matter, while an MDOT spokeswoman said, "Passengers’ personal data was never requested."
