Russia’s federal communications supervisor, Roskomnadzor, has opened administrative proceedings against Facebook and Twitter for their alleged failure to comply with the country’s data localization laws, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports. The agency said the two tech companies have not formally announced how they will comply with the rules that require them to store citizens’ personal data within Russia’s borders. "The companies controlling the Facebook and Twitter social networks have provided only formal answers to our demands that they confirm the localization of personal databases of Russian users in Russia," Roskomnadzor said in a statement.
