Georgetown Law writes that former Chairman of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and Dean of Georgetown Law Robert Pitofsky passed away Oct. 6 at the age of 88. During Pitofsky’s tenure, the FTC brought and won instrumental antitrust cases and began to police consumer deception and privacy on the internet. Former student and current FTC Chair Joseph Simons said, “The way [Pitofsky] conducted the FTC…is an example of what [the agency] can do when it’s working at its absolute best…” Former FTC Commissioner Maureen Ohlhausen tweeted Pitofsky's passing was a loss for the antitrust community.
