The class is composed of people who do not own Ring doorbells, who sued under Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act and alleged Ring failed to obtain their consent before collecting facial biometrics.
  • A group of plaintiffs are resistant to a motion to dismiss a BIPA lawsuit against Amazon because its Alexa smart speaker allegedly collected their “voiceprint,” Biometric Update reports. Amazon sought to dismiss the lawsuit and claimed “voice recordings and transcripts are not ‘voiceprints.’”
